BIOGRAPHY

Takuan Amaru is an author, teacher, mental-health consultant, and public speaker. Former columnist for the Examiner (Philadelphia) magazine, he has written over 100 articles on various topics such as popular culture/music, ancient spirituality, and philosophy. Tak borrows from previous life experiences as a soldier, social worker, athlete, and music artist to connect with readers. He makes his home in Nagoya, Japan.

Currently, Tak has four books under AfroAsiatic Publications. Gaikokujin—The Story, which is a trilogy, consists of Book 1: Hip Hop, Race, and Pursuing the American Dream, Book 2: The Making of a Soldier, and Book 3: Quest for Christ Consciousness.

In February 2022, he launched his latest book: 21st Century Japan Decoded: the only Manual on Mental-Health for Blacks in Japan. Having trained and worked for seven years at the University of Behavior Healthcare in Piscataway, NJ (USA), Tak also offers consultations on mental-health issues for those in Japan—especially newcomers—who are learning Japanese culture and may be suffering from culture shock.

His newest book, scheduled for release this autumn, is a conversation textbook entitled, 英語でこれが言えたらかっこいい!「Keeping it 100% in English: Stories to Educate and Inspire!」イラストでストーリー展開

MY UPCOMING BOOK LAUNCH

英語でこれが言えたらかっこいい!「Keeping it 100% in English: Stories to Educate and Inspire!」イラストでストーリー展開

Keeping it 100% in English is an ESL textbook for students at the intermediate-advanced level. It is designed to increase a person’s conversation ability while inspiring the learner by featuring stories with characters who overcome overwhelming odds to achieve their goal.

“Since English has been crowned as the “International Language”, it is the responsibility of native-teachers to provide content and material that not only educates the learner on the finer points of the language but, just as importantly, brings awareness to issues and perspectives that should be—but are not—covered by mainstream education and media.”

This book is for you if you are..
